Nocturnal Animals Book List

Do you know what nocturnal means? When referring to animals, nocturnal means they are active at night and sleep during the day. What kinds of animals can you think of that are nocturnal? The owl is the first that comes to my mind. They sleep during the day and hunt at night. They are one of my favorite animals due to their large eyes and wise demeanor.

For July, Miss Lindsey put together a wonderful

Nocturnal Animal Book List

Summers in New England grant opportunities to see these animals, as the sun sets later and the weather is usually still warm. Here are some of Miss Lindsey’s favorite picture books with nocturnal animals that we often see in New England.

Did you discover an animal that you didn’t know was nocturnal? I didn’t know hedgehogs were! How fascinating. I also found it interesting that some flowers are nocturnal, but most are the opposite diurnal which means they open during the day and close at night.
